Volunteer Opportunities

Junior Volunteers

The Junior Volunteer (JV) Program is for participants 14 years of age or older.  These participants assist the paid staff with program implementation.   During the summer months, JV’s have the opportunity to assist staff for two weeks in the Summer Day Camp Program.  They also have the opportunity to participate during the school year during various School-Out Programs.  JV’s must complete all required paperwork and orientation training before they may begin working with the staff and participants.   If the JV is using his or her hours as a volunteer with any of our programs to complete requirements for High School or a service club, please have them present the paperwork to the Director before they begin their volunteer work.

Parent Participation

Opportunities for volunteer activities to interested parents will either be posted at the swipe in/out computers or sent out via email.  Opportunities will be offered to parents on an as needed basis.  Examples of volunteer activities for which certificates may be offered might include but are not limited to:  field trip assistance, assembling toys/equipment, or providing assistance with a particular service project within the classroom such as painting or helping conduct an activity.  Those projects or activities in which a discount certificate would be offered will be communicated in advance, whenever possible, by the Program Directors or Assistant Directors.  CYPA staff and FCC Providers who ask on an individual basis for parental volunteers are encouraged to do so, but it will be with the understanding that discount certificates will not be offered unless from a Program Director or an Assistant Director.

Determine value of certificate and provide to parent after volunteer activity has been completed.  Certificates may vary in amount and will generally be in the $5.00 - $25.00 range but will not exceed $50.00 for any one activity.  Certificates will be signed by the Program Director or the Assistant Director and are redeemable for a period of up to 3 months.

Parents may earn and use more than one certificate during a month as long as it doesn’t exceed the amount owed to the program.

Certificates may be redeemed at any CYS program for the amount on the certificate. Certificates may not be redeemed for late fees, or be more than the established monthly charge.
