The Mission of Child & Youth Services is to:
Support readiness by reducing lost duty time due to conflict between parental responsibilities and unit mission requirements.
Contribute to the quality of life and well-being of families in the command with young children
Support parental child-rearing responsibilities by providing developmentally appropriate care options for children.
Contribute to the growth and development of children while they are under Army care.
Our philosophy is based on the theory that play is a child's work. For these reasons, we believe in developing the "whole" child. The goal of any CDC, FCC, SAS or Middle School and Teen (MST) program is to promote development of children in accordance with the needs and abilities, and genuine interests of each child. Specifically, children must feel good about themselves in order to reach their full potential. The programs are fun-filled, hands-on positive, flexible, and educational. Our programs provide experiences which promote children's physical, social and intellectual growth and general well-being. Each child's positive self-esteem will be promoted by:
a. Enhancing social, cogitative and communication skills.
b. Providing creative, artistic experiences.
c. Developing skills for both large and small muscles.
It is our continuing goal to treat children of all races, religious, family backgrounds, and cultures with equal respect and consideration; and to provide developmentally appropriate activities and materials that respect cultural diversity.
We recognize that children grow in predictable stages and affirm that the rate of growth is different for each child and that these stages cannot be rushed. It is our continuing effort to provide an environment that is warm, happy, and supportive of the child as they move through the growth stages.
The success of Child and Youth Services Programs is based on four cornerstones which are quality, affordability, availability and accountability. Ensuring equality child care programs that are both affordable and available to Army families is a high priority. Military Child and Youth Services Programs are constantly striving to sustain their status as a "Model for the Nation" in accordance with statutory requirements.
